Stream Running

Distance = 46 Miles
We got a very early start this morning, so it was just alittle colder, but still a fairly nice day.
We started out by going back to the area we dubbed Morgantown Lookout Hill. We had actually covered more of it the day before than we had thought, so it didn’t take us long to explore all of that area. But there was still plenty of area surrounding the Lookout to explore. We hit a good bit of trails that connected to ones we were on the previous day. That is one of the things I have found the most fun, exploring where trails lead. They are very intertwined, so you find yourself popping out onto a trail or place that you were earlier.
     My Garmin 60csx GPS unit has been a big help mapping out all the trails. I can keep track of our path, and know exactly what trail we have been on, and where they will probably end up.
     We found some really cool trails though, and had a good variety of them. From open field trails, to really rutty and muddy trails. One trail in particular, had a large truck sized water hole that you had to go through.
     We didn’t see many people out riding in the morning, but as the day went on, we saw quite a few.
There was a group of about 6 with sport quads and dirt bikes in India Creek. I got a quick vid of them doing one small hill climb. I was going to try to follow them a bit, and get some more video, but it was just too much of a hassle to try to keep up with them, and get the shots with the camera. Plus I was not exactly sure where Ben was at this time.
     When I found Ben, he had been doing alittle stream riding, trying to “wash off” his Foreman.
I have not really done much mud bogging or water stuff yet, so I thought, what the heck. The water was no more than 2 feet deep in places, so it wasn’t to bad, we never bogged out the engines any. I tried to get a video of us going though the stream, but it was very hard to hold the camera, and drive the ATV with one hand. Plus I was only in 2WD, so I couldn’t keep up with Ben as much as I would have liked.
     On our way back through Indian Creek, we ran into our 3 wheeler buddy, there was another younger kid with him also, may have been his son. We rode with them for just a while, before calling it a day, and heading back into town to wash off the ATVs.
     It was a really fun day, and our longest ride so far, at about 46 miles. I have not confirmed this yet, but from what I calculated today, but 05 Rubicon is doing about 22 mpg. Needless to say, I am very happy about this, its doing better than I had expected. Granted, we did do a good bit of fast road riding today also, that that will help the gas mileage.
