Prusa i3v 3D Printer

I have had this 3D printer for about a year or so now, but just not making a post about it. Always wanted one soon as I heard about them, prices finally came down on the do it yourself kits, so I bought myself one. The assembly was pretty easy, took about 3 afternoons after work. But the setup and adjustments take days when you first start using one. There is alot involved as far as how things need to be printed, what settings to use. Just lots of little things you have to learn to get things working the […]

Jeep JK – A-Pillar Switch Panel

I looked into several options for mounting switches in the JK. Compared to the TJs I have owned, there really isnt we much dash space to mount aftermarket switches in the JK. I was going to use the overhead panel that mounts above the rear view mirror, but I wanted the switches to be easy to reach when standing outside the Jeep. So that I can easily operate some of the external lights while camping. Plus the overhead panels seem to be so much more expensive for no reason. I decided to use a Rugged Ridge A-Pillar switch […]

Hatfield McCoy Trails – Bear Wallow – Long Crawl Trail

Took a trip down to Ethal, WV to a fairly new section of trails now open to 4x4s at Hatfield McCoys Bear Wallow Park. We camped out at Chief Logan State Park the night before, then headed to Bear Wallow the next day. This was by far the most challenging trail I have done in quite a while and was the first true test of my Jeep JK. Overall I was very pleased with how the Jeep did. I only had to winch twice, which wasnt bad considering I am only running 35″ tires. As far as I […]

White Mountains 2016

Alan and I took another trip back to the White Mountains again this year. We had taken a motorcycle trip here the year before. Last Years Trip Report. Which didn’t go as well with Alans bike breaking down. This year we wanted to do some backpacking on Mt. Washington, so we decided to drive my truck this trip. Just over 1,600 miles round trip. Places we visited: USS Nautilus Submarine Museum – CT Madison Boulder Natural Area – NH Cathedral Ledge Park – NH Mount Washington Cog Railroad – NH Backpacked on Mount Washington – NH Conway Scenic Railroad – NH USS Intrepid Sea, Air […]

Smoky Mountains 2016

Some of you may have seen in my other trip reports or photos that I usually take at least one decent motorcycle trip a year. A friend and co-worker, Alan, joins me on most of the trips. This year we decided to go back down to the Great Smokie Mountains area again. We took a trip down there three years ago and really enjoyed the scenery and the excellent roads they have. Here is the trip report from when we were there in 2013. This was the first major trip that Alan had done with his Suzuki VStrom, our last […]

FMF Stubby Front Bumper and Smittybilt XRC 9.5 Winch

Today I removed the big plastic canoe that Jeep calls a front bumper and installed a Full Metal Fab Stubby front bumper. Like most things though, you had to do some prep work before bolting the bumper on. Seems you have to do some of these things for just about any aftermarket bumper you buy, especially ones that have a recessed winch mount. I bought the bumper bare metal, I like to just spray pain most my parts, that way I can easily touch them up if they get scratched. The bumper is VERY well made, well designed, and welds […]

Rock Krawler 2.5″ Flex Lift Kit Install

Well after owning the Jeep for an intire week, I order wheels, tires, bumpers, and a lift for it. Might as well just dive into the modifying, right? I decided to go with a Rock Krawler 2.5″ Flex Lift Kit . Everyone seems to like their lifts and i thought it was a good starting point. It includes most of the parts you really need but also lets you upgrade the addition parts over time. I plan on eventually upgrading all the control arms to Rock Krawlers, and posibly the steering. I ran 33″ KM2s on my last TJ and […]

Road Trip to pick up 2013 JK Rubicon

After having my second TJ for about two years, I decided to go all out and upgrade to a JK Rubicon. I was pretty picky about what I wanted and had been looking for weeks without finding anything local. I finally found what I was looking for, 540 miles away in Nashville, TN. I drove to CT to get my first TJ, so I figured what the heck, make another road trip to get what I want.     The JK was listed by a car dealer called Carvana, I had never heard of them and after looking into them found […]

Mount Washington

Click Here for Photo Gallery    Those of you that have read my other trip reports know that a co-worker (Alan) and I try to take at least one nice motorcycle trip each year. We always have to try to out do the last trip, and this year we certainly did. The ultimate destination for this trip was Mount Washington in the White Mountains of NH. Which is the highest peak on the east coast, at 6,288 ft. The trip was to be 9 days spending as many nights at camp grounds as possible to save money instead of staying […]
