Description:
The UK 4AA LED light used 4AA batteries to drive a 1W Side Emitter LED
in a water tight polymer housing.
The light is available in yellow and black.
First
Impressions:
The light seems well made for a none metal light.
Small for a 4AA light, nice clickie on/off switch.
The output is not impressive, until you take into account that this
light will run for at least 10 hours before you notice any dimming !!!
Size/Weight:
Light weight due to there being almost no metal in the light at all.
Fits well in your hand, and is one of the smallest 4AA lights I have
seen.
Grip/Handling:
The 4AA batteries are in 2 rows, making the light have a rectangle
shape, rather than a conventional round body. There are raised grooves
along the top and bottom, this makes its have descent grip for a plastic
light.
Build
Quality:
This is one of the better built non metal lights I have seen.
Body is all one piece, with a rubber bezel, and rubber booted switch.
Features:
Rubber booted clickie on/off switch
Loop for strap to slide through
LONG runtime
Very water tight design suitable for shallow diving
Output:
The overall output is probably close to a minimag, but with less throw.
It has a fairly tight spot, with a very wide smooth flood.
Runtime:
This light will run for 10 hours without dimming !!!!!!
Heat
Issues:
This light has almost no heat buildup. Which is good since there is not
enough metal in the light to dissipate the heat.
Pros:
Small for a 4AA light
Very water tight
Killer Runtime
Cons:
Low light output for its size
Would rather have the lanyard/belt loop near the tail, instead of the
head.
Conclusion:
I use this light alot for caving. I know it will last the entire day,
and I dont have have to worry about getting it wet and muddy. The light
output is alittle low for my taste, but it is more expectable when you
take into account its 10 hour runtime. The polymer body is also good for
activities like caving, you can scratch it up and not really notice
much. Unlike scratching the HA off of an aluminum light.
